Fortune Cookies with a difference…

A belated “happy Chinese New Year” to you.

Recently at a group there were fun and games to celebrate the event, capped off with everyone receiving a handmade fortune cookie baked by my amazing wife. They were nicely-shaped, tasty and made the nice cracking sound you might expect, but inside was a surprise, for instead of finding a ‘fortune’, group members found a Bible verse. That’s right, we went there. Below are a few samples of what people could have found inside, taken from ‘the Beatitudes’. photo

Matthew 5 verse 3:You’re blessed when you’re at the end of your rope. With less of you there is more of God and his rule.

Matthew 5 verse 4: You’re blessed when you feel you’ve lost what is most dear to you. Only then can you be embraced by the One most dear to you.

Matthew 5 verse 5:You’re blessed when you’re content with just who you are—no more, no less. That’s the moment you find yourselves proud owners of everything that can’t be bought.

Matthew 5 verse 6: You’re blessed when you’ve worked up a good appetite for God. He’s food and drink in the best meal you’ll ever eat.

Matthew 5 verse 7: You’re blessed when you care. At the moment of being ‘care-full,’ you find yourselves cared for.

Matthew 5 verse 9: You’re blessed when you can show people how to cooperate instead of compete or fight. That’s when you discover who you really are, and your place in God’s family.

Go on, take a bite. You may benefit from what’s inside…

  1. They look good. I’m tempted to make some now.

  2. I’d recommend it! Although I say this having not played a part in making them myself…
Worth it for the final outcome though. 😉
